Troutbeck's Annual Village Pancake Races…

Our traditional Pancake Races were founded as recently as 2000 – the first race was actually held in celebration of the Millenium! Thanks to Rosemary Hopwood's hard work and enthusiasm, this event has now become a firmly established annual tradition. The 2009 and 2010 photos below were kindly contributed by Katharine Brown, Alastair Chalmers and Val Corbett…

The 2010 Race organisation was taken over by Tony Legge, who has been loaned to us by the Mayor of Abingdon over the last few years to act as Troutbeck Town Crier

Tony organised races for children and adults of all ages…

In 2010 another highly successful afternoon…

Prizes are distributed and the afternoon finished with a hot cup of tea and a hot cross bun.

David Wilmot's 50th Birthday Celebration…

david_wilmot_50th

A very happy parish gathering was held at The Mortal Man in Troutbeck for our Vicar's 50th birthday on Sunday January 24th, 2010

Christopher Poulsom organised the event, superbly as always, for about sixty people, and Garry and his staff served a delicious three-course lunch. David was presented with a rucksack (he is hoping to get time do some fell walking in the near future!) His wife Margaret was there with their two daughters, Holly and Heather, and there were not only parishoners from Jesus Church, but also many other friends from other parts of The Lake District.
